On this episode of The Whole View Podcast, Stacy and I have a very special guest on to discuss strategies and mindset for living with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Matt is Stacy’s husband, business partner, best friend and so much more (like our podcast producer!), and he lives as a non-neurotypical person along with two of his children, who are also ADHD. I bring in some of the latest science on the hallmark signs of someone who may have this trait, and we openly discuss, while ADHD may be deemed a diagnosis, it should not be viewed as something that is “wrong” or “requires curing”. It is simply a different brain wiring, and atypical thinking patterns.

Matt gets extremely vulnerable in sharing some of his personal experiences with how his brain moves from one topic to another, seemingly making him forgetful in certain situations, and how Stacy has reframed this to understand him better and lessen her frustration. Stacy and Matt discuss the importance of routines, setting alarms for reminders, and communication between partners. Other helpful strategies they have implemented over the years include couples therapy, support groups, and an app called ‘Pair’ which offers a fun way to bond and check in on the bigger picture and each other’s larger life goals. This podcast is jam packed with helpful strategies to understand non-neurotypical thinkers in your life, but also healthy relationships in general!
